The Marble Falls High School boys soccer team crushed Lago Vista 7-1 in the District 25-4A opener Jan. 23.
The Mustangs (9-2, 1-0) faced more than the Vikings during the contest.
“It was tough,” he said. “There was a pretty solid sheet of rain and wet conditions. It was a sloppy game. I thought we played well under the conditions. When it’s wet, you lose the ball and mishit things. There are a lot of things that take you out of your rhythm.”
Garrett Goggans scored two goals. Other goals were scored by Alexis, Ivan Espino, Eduard, Rigo, Kash Bussaratorn, Assists came from Este, Bussaratorn, Anderson, Diego Mata and Espino
Hoover noted that reserves played half of the contest and scored three goals.
“I don’t think we played well; we were just better,” he said. “We had some individual plays throughout the game that helped us. I’m more thrilled of the production from the bench. Can the bench come in and keep the level up? They did.”
Lago Vista’s lone goal was simply the result of a great play at the right opportunity.
“I high-fived (the scorer) as he ran by,” he said. “He hit a shot from a long distance. Every once in a while you get a good shot like that.”
Marble Falls takes a bye Friday, Jan. 26, and then plays Kennedale Tuesday, Jan. 30, in a rare 3 p.m. kick all in an effort to get the opponent back on their bus on their way home around 5 p.m.
